History of Concord (California)
Concord, California, is a city in the San Francisco Bay Area. The city was founded in 1869 as the community of Todos Santos by Salvio Pacheco, a rancher from nearby Martinez. Pacheco’s grandson,Concord Concannon, gave the city its name. The city has a Mediterranean climate and is known for its wineries and grape vines.
Concord was originally part of Contra Costa County, but became a city in 1905. The city is the county seat of Contra Costa County.
Concord is located in the East Bay region of the San Francisco Bay Area, about 30 miles (48 km) east of San Francisco. It is one of the larger suburbs in the Bay Area.
