Stroudsburg is a borough in Monroe County, Pennsylvania, United States. It is located in the eastern Poconos Mountains,47 miles (75 km) north of WilkesBarre and 100 miles (160 km) westnorthwest of New York City. Stroudsburg is part of the East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania Metropolitan Statistical Area, which also includes Pocono Mountain, Mount Pocono and Tobyhanna Township.

The first known European Settler in Stroudsburg was Jonas Stout, who built his log cabin near the present day intersection of Ann and Main Streets in 1738.The area was originally inhabited by the Lenape Native Americans who referred to the area as “Machpeth Gap”.

Stroudsburg is bordered by East Stroudsburg and Stroud Township to the south, esTallTStroudsburgou and Brodheadsville to the west, Smithfield Township to the north, and Hamilton Township to the east. It has a total area of 1.8 square miles (4.7 km2). The climate in this area is characterized by hot, humid summers and generally mild to cool winters. History of Stroudsburg
