Kent was first settled in the late 1860s and was officially incorporated in 1890. The city’s early years were spent as a farming community, but following the construction of the transcontinental railroad and the arrival of the Northern Pacific Railway in the early 1900s, Kent transformed into a thriving industrial town.

Today, Kent is a bustling city of more than 80,000 residents and is home to a diverse mix of businesses, including international corporations, small businesses and everything in between. The city is also a regional retail hub, with more than 1,200 retail establishments.

History of Kent

On March 28, 1844, the town of Kent was founded by Marvin Kent. It was originally a part of Franklin County, but became a part of Portage County in 1851. The village was incorporated in 1867 and became a city in 1925.

Kent was originally settled by pioneers who were looking for new farmland. Many of the settlers were from New England and New York. In 1851, the first school in Kent was built. The village grew slowly but steadily, and by the early 1900s, it had a population of around 1,000.

The city of Kent is located in northeastern Ohio, about 30 miles south of Cleveland. The Cuyahoga River runs through the center of the city. Kent State University is located in the city, and it is home to the headquarters of the Davey Tree Expert Company.

Today, the city of Kent is a thriving community with a population of over 28,000. It is a beautiful city with a rich history and a bright future.
