Bromham is a village and civil parish in Wiltshire, England. It is on the River Avon, about 2 miles (3 km) east of Bradford on Avon and 7 miles (11 km) southwest of Trowbridge. The parish includes the hamlets of Bissbury and Little Dilton.
The village has a Church of England parish church, two Methodist churches, a village hall and a pub. There are also Bromham Mill and a number of other businesses. The mill is on the National Heritage List for England, and Bissbury Ring, a prehistoric earthwork, is on the Heritage at Risk register.
The parish was part of the Melksham hundred.
In 1086 the Domesday Book showed that Bromham had 27 households, including 16 villagers, six smallholders and five slaves. The lord of the manor was Malet of Hamme, who also held lands in other parts of England. The manor was later owned by the Stourton family and then the mastering Blount family.
History of Bromham

The village has a long history and was first mentioned in a charter of 956 AD. The name “Bromham” is thought to derive from the Old English words for “broom” and “homestead”.
The village was formerly part of the hundred of BradfordonAvon, but in 1349 it was transferred to the hundred of Melksham.
Bromham was once an important market town and had a weekly market and four annual fairs. The market seems to have ceased by the end of the 14th century, but the fairs continued until they were finally abolished in 1873.
The parish church of St. Nicholas dates from the 12th century and is a Grade I listed building. The village also has a 16thcentury manor house, Bromham House, which is a Grade II* listed building.
In the 19th century, Bromham was an important centre for the manufacture of worsted cloth. It also had a large corn mill, which was powered by the River Avon. The mill was demolished in 1902, but the former mill race can still be seen running through the village.
Today, Bromham is a popular tourist destination, with many visitors coming to see the historic church and houses. The village also has a number of pubs, cafes and shops.
