The White Deer Land Company Office is a historic office building located in downtown Pampa. Pampa is located at the intersection of U.S. Highway 60 and Texas State Highway 70, on the North Canadian River in the western part of Gray County, between the cities of Amarillo and Lubbock.
The area now known as Pampa was first inhabited by the Kiowa and Apache peoples. The first European settlers to the area were cattlemen who arrived in the late 19th century. The city was founded in 1888, when the Santa Fe Railroad built a station there.
In 1906, the city was officially incorporated. The discovery of oil in the area led to an economic boom in the early 20th century, and Pampa became known as the “Hub City” due to its central location in the Panhandle.
