History of Dartford
Dartford is a town and borough in Kent, England. It is located on the border of Greater London, 25 miles (40 km) eastsoutheast of Charing Cross. The town is the administrative centre of the Borough of Dartford, which also includes the towns of Crayford, Swanscombe and Gravesend to the north. In medieval times, it was an important market town, and one of the busiest crossing points of the River Thames.
Dartford is mentioned in the Domesday Book of 1086, when it was owned by the king. It was then a small town, with a population of around 200. By the 13th century, it had grown to become an important market town, and one of the busiest crossing points of the River Thames.
