Warren is a city in northwestern Pennsylvania, United States. Incorporated as a city in 1864, Warren lies within Warren County. The city is located along U.S. Route 6 and just west of Pennsylvania Route 62. As of the 2010 census, the city had a total population of 9,710. It is the county seat of Warren County.

The area was originally inhabited by Native Americans of the Algonquian nation who had been displaced by Iroquois nations from the southeastern part of the country. European settlement began in the 1790s when settlers from Connecticut and New York moved into the area. Warren was initially part of Venango County when it was founded in 1800. On March 12, 1813, Warren was partitioned from Venango County and incorporated as a borough.

In 1834, Warren was again partitioned, this time from Mercer County, and incorporated as a city. The city became the county seat of Warren County when it was founded in 1837.

The city continued to grow throughout the 19th and early 20th centuries. The opening of the Allegheny Reservoir in 1965 created opportunities for outdoor recreation in the city.

City of Warren is the county seat of Warren County, Pennsylvania, United States. The city is in the foothills of the Allegheny Mountains, on the western shore of Conewango Creek. The population was 10,622 at the 2010 census. It is home to the Warren County Fair and is the principal city of the Warren, PA Micropolitan Statistical Area.

The City of Warren began life as a pioneer settlement in the Connecticut Western Reserve, which was originally a part of the Massachusetts Bay Colony. The Reserve had been created in 1786 as compensation to the Colony for losses in the westward expansion of the country. It was first settled by colonies of Connecticut and Rhode Island, and soon after by New York and Pennsylvania.

The area that would become the City of Warren was first settled in 1796 by Maj. Alexander Chillingly and his family. Chillingly and his family were originally from Warren, Rhode Island. They named their new settlement “Warren” after their former hometown.

In 1797, Warren became the county seat of newlycreated Warren County. The county was named after Gen. Joseph Warren, a Patriot who was killed at the Battle of Bunker Hill.

The first courthouse was built in 1798. The first jail was built in 1803. The first schoolhouse was built in 1804.

The City of Warren was officially incorporated in 1831.
