History of Tillamook
Tillamook is a city in Tillamook County, Oregon, United States. The population was 4,294 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Tillamook County.
The city is named for the Tillamook, a Native American tribe who inhabited the region prior to European settlement.
In 1851, the first settlers arrived in the area, led by Josiah Leland. The town was platted in 1852 and officially incorporated in 1876.
The first post office in Tillamook was established in 1858.
The City of Tillamook was nearly destroyed by fire twice, first in 1889 and again in 1935.
