Sidney is a city located in southwestern Ohio, United States. As of the 2010 census, the city had a population of 21, 229. It is the county seat of Shelby County. Sidney was founded in 1817 on the Miami River, which flows through the city. The city is named after Sir Philip Sidney, an English poet and courtier who was killed in battle in 1586.
