Sights in Roselle
Roselle is a city located in the northeastern part of Illinois in the United States. It is a suburb of Chicago and is about 28 miles northwest of the city. The population of Roselle is about 23,000.
The city was originally founded in 1843, and was originally called Bloomingdale. It was renamed to Roselle in honor of the Rosell family, who were the first settlers in the area.
Roselle is home to several attraction, including the Bloomingdale Golf Club, the Forest Preserve District of DuPage County, and the Roselle History Museum.
The Bloomingdale Golf Club is a private golf club that was founded in 1892. It is located on the west side of Roselle and features an 18hole course.

History of Roselle
The first European settlement in what is now Roselle was started in 1620 by Dutch and Walloon families. They settled along the Rahway River in the area now known as Winfield. With the purchase of land from the Lenape in 1664, Roselle began to take shape as a Dutch farming community. In 1708, Staten Islander John Bartow founded the first Englishspeaking settlement in the area on the banks of the Rahway River. Bartow named the settlement after his family’s ancestral home in England, and Roselle slowly began to grow as more English and Scottish families arrived.
During the American Revolution, Roselle was a hotbed of Patriot activity. Members of the community were active in the local militia and in spying on British troops stationed in nearby Elizabethtown. In 1780, the British raided Roselle, burning several homes and the local tavern.
In the 19th century, Roselle continued to grow as a quiet farming community. The Rahway River provided power for local mills, and the land around the river was perfect for farming. In 1816, the Roselle Academy was founded, and in 1839, the community was formally incorporated as the Township of Roselle.
The 20th century brought change to Roselle. With the railroad came new industry, and Roselle slowly began to transform from a rural farming community into a bustling suburban town. In the 1950s and 1960s, more change came to Roselle as the town was redeveloped into a modern suburb. Today, Roselle is a thriving community with a rich history and a bright future.
