History of Rogers

The city of Rogers is located in Northwest Arkansas, in the Ozark Mountains. The city is named after Captain William A. Rogers, who was the superintendent of the St. Louis–San Francisco Railway. Rogers was established in 1881, and was originally part of the Indian Territory. The city became the county seat of Benton County in 1887.

In the early 20th century, Rogers became a hub for the poultry industry. The city was also home to the headquarters of the White River Valley Telephone Company. The company was the largest independent telephone company in the United States at the time.

During World War II, Rogers was a center for war production. The city was home to a pilot training school and an ammunition plant. In the 1950s, Rogers began to grow rapidly, due to the construction of Interstate 40 and thepb expansion of the poultry industry.
