History of Park City

Park City was initially a small mining town in the 1800s, but grew rapidly after the discovery of silver in 1869. Park City became the largest producer of silver in the United States by 1872, and the town’s population swelled to over 10,000 people. Unfortunately, the silver boom ended just as quickly as it began, and Park City went into a decline. However, in the late 1960s, Park City reinvented itself as a ski resort town, and has since become one of the most popular ski destinations in the country. Today, Park City is a thriving town with a population of about 7,500 people, and is home to the famed Sundance Film Festival.
