History of Meridian
Meridian, Idaho is a city located in the Treasure Valley in southwestern Idaho. Meridian was founded in 1891 by James B. Stoddard, who also served as the first mayor of the city. The city was named after a grove of trees called “The Meridian” that Stoddard used as a landmark while traveling through the area. Despite being founded over 125 years ago, Meridian only incorporated as a city in 1903.
