History of Lebanon (New Hampshire)
The first European settlers in Lebanon were a group of fiftythree men from Massachusetts who arrived in 1761. The town was then known as “Lebanon” after the biblical Mount Lebanon. The settlers cleared the land and built farms, bridges, and roads. By 1766, the population had grown to over 200.
