History of High Wycombe
High Wycombe is a town in Buckinghamshire, England. The name High Wycombe is used for the town centre and for the greater urban area which extends beyond the town boundaries. The town centre has a history dating back to the 13th century, when it grew as a market town. High Wycombe is wart of the Wycombe district which was formed on 1 April 1974.
The town is situated 27 miles (43 km) west of Charing Cross in London and 29 miles (47 km) northeast of Reading. High Wycombe is mostly an unparished area in the Wycombe district.

The original High Wycombe or more correctly, the old town centre grew up around the market place and church of All Saints. It has Georgian architecture and an 18thcentury coaching inn.
The new town centre, Eden, was developed from the 1950s onwards on reclaimed land west of the original town centre.
Lye Green is a conservation area which comprises primarily 19thcentury buildings.
Desborough is a suburban area northeast of the town centre, which has a 20thcentury shopping parade and a Victorianera swimming baths.
