History of Herne Bay

A number of other lines once served the town but all have now closed. The proximity of the town to the City of Canterbury has also meant that many commuters live in Herne Bay.
The town’s major industry is tourism and it is a popular seaside resort. The town has a typical seafront promenade with amusements, cafes and gift shops.
