Guthrie, Oklahoma is a city in Logan County, Oklahoma, United States, and is the county seat of Logan County. The population was 3,908 at the 2010 census, a decline of 1.7 percent from the 2000 census. It is part of the Oklahoma City Metropolitan Statistical Area. Guthrie was established in 1887 as a territorial capital of Oklahoma. It was also designated as the first capital of the State of Oklahoma after statehood in 1907. It hosted the Oklahoma Constitutional Convention in Guthrie on November 16, 1907, which drew up the constitution for the state. In 1910, after Oklahoma’s capital moved to Oklahoma City, Guthrie became the county seat of Logan County. The city is home to the headquarters of the Oklahoma Historical Society and the Oklahoma Territorial Museum. Guthrie is also notable for its Victorian architecture, which can be seen in its downtown Historic District, composed of more than 2,000 structures and designated a National Historic Landmark.
