History of Gloversville
The city of Gloversville is located in upstate New York and has a long and interesting history. The area was originally inhabited by the Mohawk people and was known as the village of Sacandaga. The village was located at the site of presentday Gloversville.
The Mohawk people had a long and peaceful history in the area until the mid1700s when tensions started to rise between the Mohawk and the British colonists. These tensions came to a head in the early 1770s when the British started to build a fort in the village of Sacandaga.
