History of Garden Grove

Garden Grove is a city in Orange County, California. The city was founded in 1874 by Alonzo Cook and George Henry, who purchased a tract of land from the Rancho San Juan Capistrano. The city was incorporated in 1956 and has a population of over 170,000. Garden Grove is home to a number of attractions, including the Historic Main Street, the Garden Grove Park, and the Crystal Cathedral.

The area now known as Garden Grove was originally inhabited by the Tongva people. The Tongva were a peaceful people who lived off of the land and had a rich cultural heritage. In 1784, the Spanish established a mission in the area, which led to the arrival of more settlers. The area continued to grow in the 19th century, and by the 1870s, there were a number of small settlements in the area.
