Farnborough is a town in the English county of Hampshire. The town is situated in the southern part of the district of Hart, near the border with Surrey. Farnborough was founded in the early 12th century, and is recorded in the Domesday Book of 1086 as Ferneberga.
The first written record of Farnborough as a town dates from 1120, when the Bishop of Winchester granted a charter to the monks of Titchfield Abbey to hold a market in the town.
