History of Evanston (Wyoming)
Evanston is a city in southwestern Wyoming, United States. The city is located on the Bear River just north of the Utah border and just south of I80. It is the county seat of Uinta County and the principal city of the Evanston, Wyoming Micropolitan Statistical Area, which has a population of 18,884.
Evanston was first settled in 1863 by John Evans and a group of surveyors working for the Union Pacific Railroad. The city was named after Evans, who later served as the second governor of the Colorado Territory.
