Estherville, Iowa is a city in Emmet County, Iowa, United States. The population was 10,142 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat and largest city in Emmet County. Estherville was founded in 1857 by settlers from Estherville, Indiana, and was named after the Biblical Esther. The first settlers in the area were from Europe and America. The town was first platted in 1856, and was incorporated in 1865. The first newspaper in the city, The Estherville VINDICATOR, was established in 1858.
