History of East Hampton
East Hampton, Connecticut, is a town in Middlesex County, Connecticut, United States. The population was 12,959 at the 2010 census. East Hampton includes the villages of Marlborough and Cobalt, and is governed by an elected town council. It is located 16 miles (26 km) southeast of Hartford.
East Hampton was first settled in 1639 as part of Middletown. In 1767, the eastern half of Middletown was split off to form the town of Chatham. In 1841, the western half of Chatham was split off to form East Hampton.
