History of Custer
The city of Custer is located in the state of South Dakota in the United States. The city has a population of about 1,600 people and is the county seat of Custer County. The city was founded in 1874 and was named after General George Armstrong Custer.
General Custer was a United States Army officer who served during the American Civil War and the Indian Wars. He is best known for leading the Seventh Cavalry at the Battle of Little Bighorn in 1876 where he and his men were defeated by a coalition of Native American tribes.
