History of Calumet City
Calumet City is a city in Cook County, Illinois, United States. The population was 37,042 at the 2010 census. A south suburb of Chicago, Calumet City was once known for its steel mills and manufacturing plants, but these have largely disappeared since the 1970s leaving only a few factories and plants remaining. The city is now mostly residential with some retail districts.
