History of Branson

The city of Branson is located in the southwest corner of Missouri in Taney County on the shores of beautiful Table Rock Lake. The city lies within the Ozark Mountains, one of the most picturesque regions in the country.

Branson has a long and rich history dating back to the early 1800s when settlers first began moving into the area. The city was originally named after Reuben Branson, the first permanent white settler in the area. Branson began as a small farming community and quickly grew into a bustling little city as more and more people arrived.

In 1882, the White River Bridge was built across Table Rock Lake, connecting Branson to the outside world and paving the way for further growth. The bridge was originally a toll bridge, but was later purchased by the city and turned into a free bridge.

The early 1900s saw the arrival of the first tourist attractions in Branson, including the Silver Dollar City amusement park and the Titanic Museum. Soon, Branson became known as a popular destination for tourists from all over the country.
