History of Blytheville

Blytheville is a city located in Arkansas, United States. The population was 18,272 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Mississippi County, and the largest city in northeastern Arkansas. Blytheville also became known as “The Boldest Little City in America” when it annexed nearly 200 square miles (520 km2) of land in 1899. Blytheville was founded in 1879 on the Kansas City, Pike & Gulf Railroad, which later became the St. Louis – San Francisco Railway. The town was named after Colonel Willis G.
