History of Big Spring
Settlers began arriving in the Big Spring area in the mid19th century. The town began to take shape in 1882 with the arrival of the Gulf, Colorado and Santa Fe Railway. The railroad brought new opportunities and settlers to the area, and by 1884, the town had grown to a population of 1,000.
